High CVSS 7.3
CVE-2026-13197
NVD analysis in progress
Nozomi Networks Labs identified a CWE-362: Concurrent Execution using Shared Resource with Improper Synchronization ('Race Condition') vulnerability in the configuration and process-image management functionality of KUNBUS piControl in version 2.6.2 that allows a local authenticated attacker to trigger use-after-free and invalid pointer dereferences on kernel configuration objects, resulting in kernel memory corruption and denial of service, by issuing concurrent crafted requests through the piControl character device.
What this means
- Exposure
- Exploitable with local access to the machine, with an ordinary user account and with no action from the victim. The attack does require particular conditions, which makes it less systematic. It also depends on circumstances the attacker does not control.
- Impact
- An attacker can read sensitive data, modify or destroy data and take the service offline.
- Weakness
- Two concurrent operations interleave, and the attacker exploits the window between them.
- Likelihood
- Its EPSS score stays low: nothing points to imminent exploitation, which is no reason to leave it unpatched.
