High CVSS 7.3

CVE-2026-63358

NVD analysis in progress

FileGator accepts arbitrary Unix permission values via the '/chmoditems' API endpoint and passes the value directly to PHP's native 'chmod()' function through 'octdec()' conversion, with no validation. This allows an authenticated user with 'chmod' permission to upgrade their privileges to root.

What this means

Exposure
Exploitable with local access to the machine, with an ordinary user account and with no action from the victim.
Impact
An attacker can read sensitive data, modify or destroy data and degrade the service.
Weakness
Permissions on a critical resource are too open.
Likelihood
Its EPSS score stays low: nothing points to imminent exploitation, which is no reason to leave it unpatched.
