High CVSS 8.1

CVE-2026-72596

NVD analysis in progress

A broken access control vulnerability in Ghost Foundation Ghost 5.x allows authenticated Author-role users to delete posts owned by other users. The post model permissible() cascade is missing the branch that handles the combined isAuthor and isDestroy condition, causing the authorization check to fall through and permit the deletion. An attacker with an Author account can delete any post on the platform.

What this means

Exposure
Exploitable remotely over the network, with an ordinary user account and with no action from the victim.
Impact
An attacker can modify or destroy data and take the service offline.
Weakness
Access control is applied incorrectly, leaving a protected resource reachable without the required rights.
Likelihood
Its EPSS score stays low: nothing points to imminent exploitation, which is no reason to leave it unpatched.
