High CVSS 7.3

CVE-2026-9127

NVD analysis in progress

A remote code execution security issue exists within Studio 5000 Logix Designer® due to incorrect authorization on a configuration file. This can allow any authenticated user to modify the paths of external tools configured within the application. If exploited, an attacker could alter the configuration to point to a malicious executable, resulting in arbitrary code execution when any user interacts with the external tools functionality.

What this means

Exposure
Exploitable with local access to the machine and with an ordinary user account — but only if a user opens booby-trapped content. The attack does require particular conditions, which makes it less systematic. It also depends on circumstances the attacker does not control.
Impact
An attacker can read sensitive data, modify or destroy data and take the service offline. The impact spreads beyond the vulnerable component into other parts of the system.
Weakness
An authorisation check exists but its logic is wrong.
Likelihood
Its EPSS score stays low: nothing points to imminent exploitation, which is no reason to leave it unpatched.
