Drone strikes shut two Yandex data centers and degrade Russia’s cloud

Between 8 and 11 October 2026, drone strikes damaged three Yandex data centers: two are fully offline, the third runs degraded, and Yandex is telling customers to switch to alternative disaster-recovery plans. Cloud availability no longer depends on logical redundancy alone: physical and geographic resilience is now a first-class architecture criterion.
